Course description

The Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe®) helps companies address the major challenges of developing and delivering enterprise-class software and systems in the shortest sustainable lead time. It is like an online, freely disclosed knowledge base of proven success patterns for implementing Lean-Agile software and systems at enterprise scale.

SAFe synchronizes alignment, collaboration and delivery for a large number of Agile teams. SAFe is scalable and configurable, allowing each organization to adapt it to their own business needs. SAFe supports small-scale solutions with 50-125 employees as well as complex systems requiring thousands of people.

A Certified SAFe® 6 Architect is an effective leader and change agent who delivers Agile Architecture to enable business value creation. Key areas of expertise are applying SAFe principles to develop and maintain Agile Architecture and release on demand, leading and supporting Solution Trains and Agile Release Trains, extending the principles that drive continuous flow to large systems-of-systems and enabling improved value flow.

The course is aimed at senior technical staff who need to understand the role of system, solution and enterprise architects in Lean-Agile organizations. The course is also suitable for people who want a deeper insight into how architecture enables continuous value flow and how architects engage with and contribute to a Lean-Agile enterprise.

Participants can improve collaboration and alignment in a SAFe® Lean-Agile enterprise when they become SAFe® 6 architects. The SAFe for Architects course prepares system, solution and enterprise architects to engage across the organization as effective leaders and change agents who collaboratively deliver architectural solutions.

During this three-day course, participants will explore the roles, responsibilities and mindset of Agile Architects, and understand how to align architecture with business value and drive continuous flow to large systems-of-systems while supporting SAFe program execution.

A Certified SAFe® 6 Architect (ARCH) is an effective leader and change agent who delivers Agile Architecture to enable the creation of business value. Key competencies include applying SAFe principles to develop and maintain Agile Architecture and release on demand, leading and supporting Solution Trains and Agile Release Trains, extending the principles that drive continuous flow to large systems-of-systems, and enabling improved value flow.

By attending the course, you are preparing to take the exam and become a SAFe® 6 Architect (ARCH).

Examination requirements:

The first step towards becoming a Certified SAFe® 6 Architect is to attend the SAFe for Architects course. This is a requirement, as participation in the course provides access to all study materials and the exam. Please note that participation in the course does not guarantee passing the exam.

Prior knowledge or skills required for the degree:

Those attending this course should be familiar with agile principles and methods and must have attended at least one SAFe course before attending this course.

Participants must attend all three days of the course to be eligible for the exam.

• Exam name: SAFe® 6 Architect (ARCH) exam
• Exam format: Multiple choice questions; Multiple choice questions
• Delivery of the exam: Web-based (one browser), closed book, no outside help, time-limited.
• Access to exam: Candidates can access the exam within the SAFe Community Platform after completing the course.
• Duration of the exam: Once the exam starts, you have 120 minutes (2.0 hours) to complete the exam.

• Cost of the exam: The first exam attempt is included as part of the course registration fee if the exam is taken within 30 days of completing the course.

• Study Guide - This comprehensive guide describes the job role and all resources related to the exam, including a detailed reading list. It is available via the Learning Plan in the SAFe Community Platform upon completion of the course.
• Practice Test - The practice test is designed to predict success on the certification exam, and it has the same number of questions, level of difficulty, and length of time. It is part of the Learning Plan in the SAFe Community Platform and can be taken an unlimited number of times at no cost.
