Course description
Elevate your project management skills with our "Planning and Control of Project Execution" course. This training is meticulously designed to equip you with the fundamental knowledge and skills essential for effective project planning and execution monitoring. Based on industry best practices from the software development sector, this course emphasizes methodological approaches validated by real-world projects.
This course offers a blend of theoretical knowledge and practical exercises focused on:
- Basic Principles of Planning: Understanding key definitions, planning artifacts, and factors for successful planning.
- Planning Practice: Step-by-step algorithm for project planning, incorporating both theory and hands-on practice.
- Execution Control: Principles of execution control, preventive and corrective actions, and tools for measuring progress against plans.
Upon completing the course, participants will be able to:
1. Develop Project Plans:
- Create detailed project schedules incorporating key milestones and deliverables.
- Identify and manage critical path activities to ensure timely project completion.
2. Monitor and Control Projects:
- Implement monitoring techniques to track project progress and identify deviations.
- Use tools like Earned Value Analysis to compare planned versus actual progress.
- Perform root-cause analysis to address deviations and prevent recurrence.
3. Take Corrective Actions:
- Develop and apply preventive and corrective actions to keep projects on track.
- Adjust project plans dynamically to accommodate changes and unforeseen issues.
4. Effective Communication:
- Communicate project status and control results clearly to stakeholders.
- Prepare and present project reports that highlight progress, risks, and corrective measures.
5. Apply Best Practices:
- Integrate best practices into project planning and execution.
- Use proven methodologies to enhance project efficiency and success rates.
6. Understand Methodological Approaches:
- Gain insights into various planning and control methodologies and when to apply them.
- Leverage these methodologies to improve project outcomes consistently.

Objectives
This training aims to impart the foundational knowledge and skills necessary for effectively performing the duties of a software development project manager, specifically in terms of creating schedules and monitoring their implementation.
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to: Understand and apply the most effective methods for planning and monitoring project execution.
This training does not cover:
1. An in-depth study of Agile project execution principles.
2. Advanced aspects of project management at an expert level, as well as foundations of project management (see Prerequisites)
3. A comprehensive examination of planning tools (scheduling) and project execution control.
These topics are addressed in separate training courses (see Recommended Training).
