The Art of Active Listening: Understanding and Being Understood
Are you distracted when someone is talking? Do you wish your memory was better? Do you have trouble listening to certain kinds of messages or in particular situations? Good listening involves active participation and can lead to a deeper understanding of others. Develop your listening skills through presentations and exercises applicable at home and work. You identify specific trouble spots and practice the skills that lead to effective listening. Learn to use eye contact effectively, to ask clarifying and open-ended questions, and to read nonverbal behavior. Stop second-guessing what someone is saying or feeling: listen!
