Course description
This online workshop introduces you to the essential accounting and finance skills any business professional needs to know. Over the three days, you will learn the language, tools, and techniques to become a more intelligent user of finance and accounting reports. Through hands-on learning exercises, we will show you how to simplify, understand, and apply data from financial reports and budgets. You will gain the confidence to ask better questions and make more informed financial decisions.

Who should attend?
This workshop is designed for mid-level professionals, small business owners, and consultants who do not have formal training in finance and accounting. It is for professionals who want to become more intelligent users of finance and accounting information.
Training content
- Learn how to understand and analyze the three main financial statements: Income Statement, Balance Sheet, and Statement of Cash Flows (including comparisons between profit and non-profit organizations)
- Learn how to prepare budgets and forecasts, and analyze variances
- BYOFS – bring your financial statements so you can learn right away how finance and accounting terms apply to your organization
- Understand how longer-term finance decisions (capital budgeting) are made utilizing the time value of money
Course delivery details
We plan to offer the fall class in an online format due to current health conditions.
We plan to offer the spring class in a hybrid learning format that includes both online and in-person instruction:

University policies may change these plans, and updates will be posted here when available. Class begins at 9:00am and ends at 4:00pm each day, with multiple breaks to accommodate meals and virtual schedules.
Costs
The non-credit format costs $1,980 (USD), with a 15% discount available for DU Alumni, Daniels Corporate Partners, and 3 or more individuals from the same organization and a 20% discount available for Non-profits, Current or Former Military, Government.
The credit format costs $2,852 (USD).
Certification / Credits
Upon request, Executive Education is pleased to provide a Certificate of Completion for professional development credit for the program completed.
