Developing a successful strategy is hard. Really hard. It's something that most businesses struggle with. The truth is, the way most strategic planning meetings are designed end up squashing creativity and innovation and result in a plan that looks only slightly different from last year’s.
But it doesn’t have to be this way. Our approach to strategic planning elicits the best, most innovative thinking from the group, helping you to look into the future, see around corners, get super clear about which direction you are moving, and allow space for intentional pivots and experiments. In short, we help your team be prepared to thrive in the complexity of today’s environment!

To accomplish this, our Strategic Thinking Lab includes the following components:
Planning Meeting: This first 60-90 minute meeting with the key team leaders will establish the foundational pieces of the 3-year plan. We will identify what makes this work important for your organization right now and the key players required for creating the plan. Most importantly, we will develop the Powerful Question that will drive this work. Designed to challenge assumptions and invite new perspectives, the Powerful Question creates deeper thinking around key ideas.
Two-Day Thinking Session: As a group, we will uncover where the team is today and work to answer the Power Question, all resulting in a one-page plan, an action plan for the first 90 days, and a rollout plan. Specifically:
- Day 1: Using structured thinking tools and facilitated conversations to generate everyone’s best thinking, we will answer the Powerful Question with innovative solutions and prioritize them based on impact and capacity for change.
- Day 2: This time will be spent finalizing the overall plan and organizing the first 90-day plan with goals and experiments, creating the habits and rituals your team needs to execute on the plan, and developing the rollout plan for key stakeholders.
Three Half-day Facilitated Check-ins: Quarterly sessions to celebrate successes and identify key learnings over the last quarter, add mid-course corrections to the plan, and create the next 90-day action plan.
