Course description
Executive Communication for Traction and Action
George Bernard Shaw said, "The biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place."
Some of the most articulate and communicative folks have the most trouble with conveying… THE POINT. Great executive communication -- communicating for getting $#!T done -- gets to the point. It’s not only easy to understand… It cannot be misunderstood.
Peter Drucker said, "Communication is in what the listener does."
That has implications for our responsibilities on both sides of a communication.
As a conveyor of a thought, we've got to be clear, specific, unambiguous. And we've got to check for correct comprehension. Because unless we do, being on the same page is down to chance.
As a listener, we've got to listen to the words, listen to the word choice, interpret non-verbal cues. And we've got to confirm our correct comprehension.
