Course description
Heat Illness
The human body, being warm blooded, maintains a fairly constant internal temperature, even though it is exposed to varying environmental temperatures. To do this, the body gets rid of its excess heat, through varying the rate and amount of blood circulating to the skins surface and by releasing sweat. However, as the temperature and humidity level increases, these cooling methods become less effective, causing the body to have to pump more blood to the skin and release heavy amounts of sweat. This leads to heat stress. This program is designed to educate you on how to avoid, spot and treat heat illnesses.
