Course description
Supply chain management (SCM) is the planning and oversight of the entire supply chain, from people and activities to resources and products. An efficient, well-managed supply chain creates value and helps a company gain a competitive advantage. Typically, supply chain management attempts to centrally control or link the production, shipment, and distribution of a product. By effectively managing the supply chain, companies are able to cut excess costs and deliver products to consumers faster, and in many cases, cheaper. This is done by keeping tighter control of internal inventories, internal production, distribution, sales, and the inventories of company vendors. Supply chain management is based on the idea that nearly every product that comes to market results from the efforts of all of the links in the supply chain.
Supply chain and logistics professionals across the entire supply chain (procurement, manufacturing, distribution, transportation, warehousing, and retail) are increasingly becoming part of their organizations’ strategic management teams. As a result, they often can benefit from additional education and credentials to assist them in their current position or to advance their careers. With a relevant, practical curriculum and hands-on exercises, CEPE’s Sustainable Supply Chain Management Certificate program will help participants expand their knowledge base and build marketable skills in this dynamic field. All of the courses in this program are taught by experienced, industry professionals.
