Louisiana's Professional Engineers are regulated by the Louisiana Professional Engineering and Land Surveying Board, known as LAPELS. The Board has broad powers to make and enforce laws and rules that affect the everyday practice of engineers in the state.
This three-hour course provides a look at the laws and rules that govern the state's engineers. These laws and rules are the backbone of our industry and how we must conduct our business. A thorough understanding is critical to maintaining a positive relationship with your regulators and your clients.
Plus, the course addresses the basic ethical concerns that are a part of running an engineering practice. These baseline ethical guidelines, ranging from advertising issues to potential conflicts of interest, will provide a firm foundation for decisions that must be made by every practicing PE. It is nearly a certainty that every engineer at some point must make decisions based on the professional ethics guidelines in this course. A review of the guidelines will help to insure you make the correct decision.
