LearnShare L.L.C. was founded as a consortium of blue chip member companies with the goal to develop the performance, skills and knowledge of their own employees. Established in 1998 by Fortune 500 companies -- 3M, Chevron, John Deere, Eaton Corporation, General Motors, Motorola, Northwest Airlines, Owens-Corning, O-I, Pfizer, Pilkington, and United Health Group -- with the initial mission of sharing content and best practices among members, LearnShare leveraged its technology and courseware, enriched by different corporate points of view across diverse industries, to enter the learning technology market in 2001 with a Learning Management System (LMS), software that manages the training and development of a company’s workforce. Through organic growth alone, LearnShare added over thirty-five additional members (including AAA Insurance, Ashland Petroleum, Biomet Inc., Bayada Nursing, Concentra, Marathon, Valvoline, Johns Hopkins University and Medical Center, Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago, JOhns Manville, McCormick, Oceaneering, and University Hospitals (Case Western Reserve) and experienced four consecutive years of growth. In 2007 LearnShare invested to expand its core software product to meet growing market demands for a full suite of Talent Management software and guiding its future to become a premier Talent Management Software provider LearnShare is a SaaS (Software as a Service) provider of Talent Management technology solutions. It creates, implements, hosts, and maintains software that enables companies to develop and support the performance, skills and knowledge of their employees. In 2002 LearnShare provided a Learning Management System (LMS) accompanied by the necessary services to support it. In 2007 it expanded this core software to a larger suite of integrated software modules – called a Talent Management System (TMS). This broad suite of software solutions will fully automate the entire employee lifecycle from pre-hire to retire. The suite will include software tools for seven core elements in the employee cycle: workforce planning, recruitment, performance management, career and succession planning, learning and development, social networking, and compensation.
