Harnessing Emotional Intelligence
Recent studies have revealed that a person’s Emotional Intelligence (EQ) better predicts their job performance than even cognitive intelligence (IQ). Emotional Intelligence (EQ) describes a person’s ability to accurately perceive their own and others' emotions, effectively read and use body language, and manage their own and others’ emotions. A high EQ workforce is a workforce that better understands their colleagues for greater team cohesiveness, more effectively manages their emotions to minimize negative impact on their work performance, and approaches interactions with management, subordinates, clients, and other stakeholders in an emotionally savvy way. Fortunately, EQ can be improved through training and exercise.
