Course description
Learn how to effectively apply the elements and methods of Six Sigma. Understand how a vast body of knowledge relates to the DMAIC (define, measure, analyze, improve, and control) model. Determine the relationship of basic statistics to Six Sigma and learn about the Six Sigma business case including strategic planning, the voice of the customer (VOC), quality function deployment (QFD), benchmarking, and financial investment methods.

Prerequisite: Fundamental knowledge of basic math and algebra and English language reading proficiency.
Training content
- Master the use of cause and effect diagrams, checksheets, and scatter diagrams.
- Contribute to the definition of project selection criteria and develop project proposals to meet those criteria.
- Lead a Six Sigma project team, using the DMAIC problem-solving methodology and team-building skills.
- Apply and interpret basic and advanced Six Sigma tools, as necessary, for project definition, process baseline analysis, process improvement, and process control.
Course delivery details
You have 180 days to complete this course. You must make a 70 or higher as your final grade to successfully complete the course and receive a certificate of completion.
Requirements: This course can be taken on a PC (Windows XP or later) or Mac (OS X Snow Leopard 10.6 or later). Use the latest version of Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge, or Safari. Microsoft office is not included in enrollment. Access to personal email account required.
Costs
The course fee is $2,095 (USD), which includes the materials to the course.
Materials included: The Certified Six Sigma Black Belt Handbook and An Introduction to Six Sigma and Process Improvement. The materials will be mailed within 10 business days.
The certification exam fee is not included in the course fee. You will need to register and take the certification exam from the American Society for Quality (ASQ).
Certification / Credits
At the end of this course, you’ll receive a certificate indicating the number of hours of this course, which you can then record with the Project Management Institute (PMI®).
