Course description
Graduate Certificate in Industrial Automation and Machine Learning
This graduate certificate will equip you with communication (oral and written) skills to investigate, analyse and present technical ideas, information and solutions on Industrial Automation problems and projects in a professional, independent and organised manner, individually and in teams, within the engineering domain.
Upon completion of this graduate certificate, graduates will be able to identify, critically analyse and creatively solve intellectually complex, specialised engineering problems in industrial process control systems, industrial automation and process control systems relevant to Industrial Automation, individually or in groups, underpinned by critical analysis, innovation, evaluation, synthesis, accountability, machine learning and sound engineering judgement of solutions relevant to the engineering domain. You will use skills in established systematic design and project management methodologies to source, analyse, synthesise, design and communicate projects and information individually or in collaboration with others as team members and leaders.
Who should attend?
- Hold a recognized bachelor degree (or above) in engineering or science in a congruent field of practice*,
- Have completed the equivalent of first-year Bachelor level mathematics, or are able to demonstrate recognized relevant work experience.
- Have an appropriate level of English Language Proficiency at an English pass level in an Australian Senior Certificate of Education, or an IELTS score of 6.0 (with no individual band less than 6.0)**, or equivalent as outlined in the EIT Admissions Policy.

Course delivery details
Our graduate certificates take six months to complete. We deliver our online graduate certificates on a part-time intensive basis. Part-time Students are expected to spend approximately 10-15 hours per week per unit learning the program material and completing assessments. This includes attending tutorials.
The program is delivered using a wide range of learning activities such as live webinars, written assignments, and remote laboratories. These experiences aim to get the students interacting via technology-based learning experiences that highlight shared skills and knowledge derived from the many cultural and technical contexts in which the students are working.
Certification / Credits
Industrial Automation, Instrumentation and Process Control
Like all Australian higher education providers and universities, EIT programs are accredited by the exacting standards of the Australian Government’s Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA). This Graduate Certificate is a formally recognized qualification under the Australian Qualifications Framework.
Learning Outcomes
- Upon completion of this graduate certificate, graduates will have communication (oral and written) skills to investigate, analyse and present technical ideas, information and solutions on issues in relation to asset integrity and reliability in engineering projects in a professional, independent and organised manner within the engineering domain.
