Training content
Advanced Data Visualization course: dives deep into time-series analytics, bubble/quadrant charts, heatmaps, Mekko and waterfall charts. Did you know that 90% of waterfall charts are not designed properly?
Product Mix course: explores different analytical techniques to fully understand the product mix productivity. Some of the analytical tools used in this program will be a systematic 1-dimension & 2-dimensional attribute analysis, long-tail contribution, Magic Sheet™, and weighted index/rank incorporating category management factors such as weighting based on profit generation or traffic building attributes.
Promotion Analytics course: thoroughly covers all aspects of promotional analytics. You will learn how to understand base volume and incremental volume - especially when the business is seasonal. You will learn some of the pitfalls of syndicated data’s base and incremental volume calculations and conduct ROI analytics incorporating the “hang-over” impact.
Placement course: focuses on creating clusters and versioning of planograms. This program will not address planogram design software.
Price Analytics course: discusses price elasticity modeling and the development of effective price ladders.
Course delivery details
This program consists of 5 core courses. They can be taken separately or as part of a certification program. The courses are offered either in-person or virtual live training. The time commitment for each course is as follows:
- Advanced Data Visualization: 2 days
- Product Mix: 2 days
- Promotion Analytics: 2 days
- Placement: 1 day
- Price Analytics: 1 day
The courses are scheduled periodically throughout the year. Or for 8 to 12 associates, we can deliver a custom course.
Delta Associates Business Insights: Black Belt level 1 certification and Excel PivotTable knowledge are recommended prerequisites.

An optional 7-hour self-paced online Excel Pivot Tables course is included.
You have the option of taking the Business Insights: Black Belt Level 2 Certification Exam after you complete 4 of the 5 courses. This is a 4-hour proctored exam that will test your Advanced Category Management Analytics Skills. The fee for this exam is $450. You may register for the exam at any time, even after you start your courses.
Certification / Credits
You have the option of taking the Delta Associates Business Insights: Black Belt Level 2 Certification Exam after you complete 4 of the 5 courses. This is a 4-hour proctored exam that will test your Advanced Category Management Analytical Skills. A score of 70% or higher is required to pass.
