Students as Content Creators (Online)
This course introduces the concept of students as content creators, providing a rationale and describing how it aligns with state or common core standards. Beyond concepts, the course includes examples of student-created content, an exploration of available digital tools, and how to incorporate the process of student-created content into lesson plans and assessments. This course is intended for teachers at all grade levels in all subject areas.

Lesson 1: The Concept of Students as Content Creators
What is it, and why should I do it?
Learn what students as content creators means and why educators are embracing this new way of engaging and teaching students. By reading documentation produced by practicing teachers and watching this process in action, you'll begin to develop an understanding of the value of this type of instruction
Lesson 2: The Link to State Standards
How does it meet my required standards?
Examine state and common core standards, as well as lesson plans associated with student content creation. Discern the standards for your school district, and evaluate lesson ideas that may be appropriate for use with your students.
Lesson 3: Examples of Student-Created Content
What does it look like?
Study examples of student-created content to help get your wheels turning on what you can do with your students. Your goal for this lesson is to begin assessing various types of student-created content and think about how you might use SCC in your classroom.
Lesson 4: The Process of Student Content Creation
How is it done?
Explore ways to allow your students to create content rather than consume content from you. Apply the concept by developing a lesson plan that allows students to create content that demonstrates their mastery of the lesson skill. Your goal is to think about upcoming topics you will teach and decide where student-created content might fit in, then create a real lesson plan that you can use with your students.
