Upon completion, participants will be able to:
- Understand why the implementation of Lean is vital to the continuous improvement of an educational system
- Identify the 8 Wastes
- Describe the overall purpose and benefits of 5S in education
- Define Value Stream and describe Current State Value Stream Mapping
- Calculate several Lean metrics and discuss their roles in Value Stream Mapping
- Explain the seven change model elements that contribute to successful change management
- Identify the benefits of Standard Work from a Lean perspective
- Understand the three characteristics of Visual Management — self-explaining, self-regulating and self-improving — and identify why they are important
- Explain how error proofing can help improve student and customer safety, confidentiality and service quality while reducing failures and omissions
- Describe how Kaizen events can provide rapid organizational benefits and accelerate the execution of larger initiatives
- Understand how Lean workplace design differs from traditional approaches and understand its benefits to an educational organization
- Identify where to implement pull systems in the educational environment
