Emotional Intelligence and Workplace Resiliency towards Better Mental Health
Through a blend of Continuous Improvement principles, Social / Emotional Leadership skills and Workplace Resiliency techniques, we will take a journey towards improved mental health.
Areas such as improved communication skills and the ability to better define tasks often leads to improved clarity of a particular situation, which further helps to manage stress and eliminate misunderstandings.
Workplace resiliency is defined as the ability to adapt or change when things don’t go as expected. We will review certain tools and techniques that can help you to minimize the risk of things not going as expected. For instance, this can be achieved by improving the likelihood of a smooth outcome or by ensuring clarity in order to reduce potential misunderstandings. And then, in those cases where the unexpected occurs (which will of course happen!), a look at different approaches and concepts to better adapt to those situations. In combination, these techniques will help manage overall stress and strive to strengthen our overall mental health.
The purpose of this course is to introduce the participant to various Emotional Intelligence tools and techniques towards better mental health.

- Influence and Decision Making: Boundaries model.
- Communication: Effective Methods and understanding the different levels of communication.
- Feedback: Providing and receiving feedback, and minimizing the stress associated with it.
- Challenging Situations: Dealing with difficult people and situations.
- Change Management: Techniques – what is it and why is it so difficult.
- Time Management: Simple techniques to make better use of your time.
- Remote Working strategies: Setting boundaries and expectations.
- Workplace Resiliency: Understanding stress, levels of distress and strengthening resiliency.
- Mindfulness: Role in the development of emotional intelligence, improved resilience, and wellbeing
- Exercises and examples throughout the course (including health care / hospitals, engineering, etc.).
Course delivery details
This is a 1 day Awareness and Understanding course.
Instructors will include an Orthopedic Surgeon with a passion for Mindful Medicine, as well as a Continuous Improvement specialist linking tools with improved personal organization.
