Course description
In Basics of Solid Waste Management, you'll learn ...
- How to define, classify, and characterize solid waste
- The generation rate of solid waste in different regions and climates
- The process for storage, collection, and treatment of solid wastes
- Disposal options for solid waste
Overview
Credit: 2 PDH
Length: 32 pages
In this course, you’ll learn how and where solid wastes are generated in a modern technological society, as well as how to store, collect and treat solid wastes. You’ll learn methods for reducing solid waste generation and how to reuse, recycle and recover energy from solid wastes. You’ll also learn methods for estimating the quantity and composition of solid wastes.
The course includes the solution of a few sample problems related to moisture content, density, and energy content determination for mixed solid waste.
This course is suitable for civil engineers, environmental engineers, chemical engineers, and solid waste landfill managers and operators.
